A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE BOWL

A Chinese Famille Rose Bowl The bowl with rounded sides rising to a slightly flared rim, the exterior enamelled with a continuous design of archaistic dragons divided by bats holding gold shou-characters, all reserved on a turquoise ground, stylized lappets at the base and a ruyi-head border circumscribing the rim, the interior covered in turquoise enamel, as is the base and surrounding the seal mark of Daoguang in iron red. Period: possibly Daoguang (1821‑1850). Height: 10.3 cm, diameter: 18.5 cm.
