China. Wanli (1573-1619). Height 18 cm So-called "pomegranate jug" with a star-shaped mouth and a long, narrow spout shaped like a branch with appliquéd foliage. Hand-painted Kraak décor in cobalt blue underglaze in panels with floral motifs and geometric and stylised plant patterns. The shape of this jug, and especially the star-shaped mouth, is reminiscent of pomegranates, which have given rise to the common nickname.
